Tributo 60 anni di Carrera Panamericana

The passion form Arturo Alonso for “La Carrera “ bring us to this retro evolution of another Icon, the 1952 Ferrari 340 Mexico Berlineta, a very special car, which only three chasiss were bodied by Vignale specially for the Mexican Race.

The number 20 car chassis number 0224 AT, driven by Luigi Chinetti crossed the final lane, in third place behind the two works 300SL Gullwing Mercedes in the III Carrera Panamericana. The car was powered by a v12 lampredi long-block 4.1 liter engine capable of doing a top speed of 174 mph.
Now almost 60 years latter, GWA brings the F/340 Competizione, as a tribute for this amazing race and the Ferrari Mexico. Alonsos's car is based on a 456 Ferrari platform, that will be re-bodied, in aluminum, hand made by Coach Building master Mark Nungent from Australia, adding all the new elements like a diffuser, rear spoiler, side vents and the front splitters to name a few.
The interior is also hand made using new technology from the 456 M, but keeping the original look, the seats will be carbon fiber, will also have a roll bar, a special luggage set, chronometers, and many other details. the body will be stretched 15 inches mostly in the middle to fit the new platform, keeping the wheel base the same.
Adding many parts, from new Ferraris, GWA will change brake calipers, rotors and other components to make the car more sport oriented, the same goes for the suspension, it will ride lower and stiffer.

The 5.4 liter V12 with 476hp@ 6300rpm, will have tuned exahust system as well as special free flow air filters, the 6 speed manual transmission remains the same, another addition are the old school five spoke wheels in 18X8 front and 18X10 rears, with a spinner cap to cover the lug nuts. Specially made to fit this car.

Once again in the style of GWA, a retro look car with new technology, this time the 340 Mexico, only three exist in the world, for the GWA F/340 Competizione, probably the only one ever made, unless somebody commissions another example.
